The most well-known "pincushion" is Leucospermum cordifolium 'Orange. a spreading evergreen shrub with large silver leaves. Many orange/red "pincushion" flowers that linger all spring. Excellent cut flowers as well as magnificent mass plantings. Needs the proper environment to flourish. Low humidity, somewhat acidic soils, good drainage, and wind protection. Grasp weeds by the root and manually pull them. To keep the flowers in the desired form, prune dead ones.
