Big fast-growing deciduous tree with large, thick green leaves and small red fruits that ripen to sweet purple fruits, known as black mulberries. Great shade tree in Summer for larger gardens. Mulberries can be used to make jam or simply eat on their own. Responds well to pruning and can tolerate a range on soils. Fruit needs to ripen on tree, will not ripen if picked early. Not suitable for tropical climates. Water well throughout the warmer months.
