Calathea zebrina, commonly called the zebra plant is a remarkably interesting plant with velvety dark green and fluorescent green variegation. Calatheas are popular house plants because of their variegated leaves and vivid colours. Like other members of the marantaceae family, Calathea raises their leaves in the morning and lowers them at night, giving them the common name, the “prayer plant”.
