Ficus lyrata, commonly called the fiddle leaf fig tree because its leaves resemble a fiddle. This is an exceedingly popular indoor plant that adds a sophisticated look to your home. With exceptionally large green leaves, this ficus adds lushness to your room and is a remarkable sight. It can easily grow to your roof and is an excellent bigger plant for your home. It makes a beautiful indoor or patio plant.

Ficus plants have extremely invasive roots so, in urban gardens, it is strongly advisable to keep them in pots or containers rather than planting them in the ground.

Light requirement: Part sun/part shade and Bright indirect sunlight

Water requirement: Medium

Watering frequency: Water when the top 5-10 cm of the potting mix is dry to the touch. Do not overwater to prevent root rot. If the potting mix dries out too much, the leaves will irreversibly droop/fall. Does well in a self-watering pot, which makes giving the right amount of water easier.

Soil: For pots: premium-quality potting mix in pots that have good drainage. For the ground, well draining loam with pH between 6 - 6.5.
