Zamia furfuracea commonly called the cardboard plant is a cycad with thick, felty green oval leaflets that grow in a spiral shape from a short trunk. The cardboard plant is salt-tolerant, making a great for coastal gardens. The plant spreads out wide rather than high and unlike other cycads, the foliage doesn't have sharp ends and hence can be planted in areas where there is foot traffic. Caution: seeds are toxic, hence choose planting locations accordingly.
