Acmena smithii Minor, also known as Dwarf Lilly Pilly or Syzygium smithii, is a compact and dense form of Acmena smithii, a native evergreen shrub or small tree. It has glossy green leaves that are arranged oppositely on the stems and have bronze new growth tips. The flowers are small, white and fluffy, and appear in clusters at the end of the branches in summer. The fruit is a purple berry that is edible and attractive to birds. Acmena smithii Minor can grow up to 3 m tall and 2 m wide but can be easily pruned and shaped to suit any size or style. It is ideal for hedges, screens, topiary, containers, borders and coastal gardens. It can tolerate drought, frost, salt and wind, making it a very adaptable and low-maintenance plant.
